What is Verge?

Verge is a crypto-currency based on a spin-off of Bitcoin. It was introduced in 2014 with its independent chain, but with an emphasis on privacy, using anonymous networks like TOR and i2P to disguise the IP address of its users and make all transactions untraceable. Because Bitcoin transactions are not truly anonymous and can be traced back to their user, Verge is trying to address these privacy issues. It is supported by the Wraith protocol, which adds features in addition to a guaranteed privacy layer. The main developer of Verge is Justin Erik Valo aka Sunerok, and the project is entirely community-driven. One of the unique features of Verge is that it uses 5 different proof-of-work hashing algorithms (Scrypt, X17, Lyra2rev2, myr-groestl and blake2s) with an average hash time of about 30 seconds. The total volume of Verge is 16.5 billion coins.
